Happy
spring! National Library week is April 9-14 and we will have free popcorn and
free STEM activities every day during the week. On April 14 join us for a
spectacular Super Heroes Escape Room. These activities are free for all ages –
even adults!
In April we will present our last program of Pushing the Limits, a book club meets
science café. We will be reading The Immortal life of Henrietta Lacks by
Rebecca Skloot and discussing the scientific idea of heritage within the book
and within our everyday lives. The phenomenal New York Times bestseller tells a riveting true story about how one
African American woman’s cells, taken without her knowledge in 1951, became one
of the most important tools in medicine. Dinner provided! This program was made
possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
Join Kirby Schmidt for a Historic Walking Tour of
Downtown Spencer. Kirby will talk about the 1931 fire that devastated downtown Spencer
and the rebuilding to make the historic downtown we love today.
