Adult Programming This February

We have great programming for adults in February. The library will begin its annual Poetry Contest this month. Be sure to visit us online or stop at the front desk for an entry slip and contest rules.  All ages from Kindergarten-Adult can enter!
Why not start the New Year right by volunteering for a local organization? In February, Spencer Public Library is hosting a Volunteer Fair where organizations from our community will talk to you about the opportunities they can provide. Learn a new skill, help your community, and meet new people! Organizations at the Volunteer Fair are: Volunteer Network of Clay County, SAAC, CAASA, Love Takes Root, Clay County Fair Association, Spencer Public Library Friends Group.
The Library will be showing the movie, The World of Henry Orient, starring Peter Sellers, Paula Prentiss, and Angela Lansbury. A 1964 movie that is funny, charming, lively and imaginative. Two starry-eyed schoolgirls spy, stalk, and scheme their way into the life of a concert pianist in this wacky movie you won’t want to miss!
Our Book To Movie Club will watch the movie, The Taking of Pelham 123, a 1974 suspense film starring Walter Matthau, Robert Shaw, and Martin Balsam. A gang of thugs hijack a subway train near New York’s Pelham Station and threaten to kill one hostage a minute. It’s a race against the clock! You don’t have to read the book to sign-up for the movie. Be sure to sign-up for the next Book Into Movie, Wag the Dog, by Larry Beinhart.
